T-mobile have created an online simulator which allows you to get a better feel for the G1 phone, it has animated 360 views, animated guides on how the keyboard slides, how the battery is removed, how the SIM card is inserted and how to insert an SD memory card. It also has an emulator, a close up view of the screen so that you can have a play with Google’s android operating platform (Beware some screens are not fully functional).

The big question we all want answered is how much is the G1 Phone, or as some refer to it the Google Phone going to cost us?

Well rumour has it that although the G1 Phone has been pre sold in the US at a decent premium, it may be available for FREE in the UK (probably in exchange for a lengthy contract we expect).

None the less, if there is any truth in this rumour, the google phone, sorry G1 phone, is set to banish the iPhone to dark cold lonely cupboards up and down the UK, possibly for good.

We’ve all seen the previews of the G1 phone but we haven’t seen or heard very much about any G1 phone accessories. We want to hear your thoughts on accessories you would like to see available to the G1 Phone. Could there possibly be any accessories launched to rival the excitement surrounding the G1 phone itself? Being the first phone to operate on the Google Android Platform, we’re expecting great things, and that includes exciting and original accessories for the G1 phone.

A recent press release from Hitwise suggested that the UK public are predominantly referring to the new G1 Phone as the Google Phone. However, it is widely believed that this is an early trend led by the lack of UK publicity for the G1 Phone and widespread excitement surrounding rumours of a new phone created by Google.

Lets make this clear once and for all. The phone in question is the G1 Phone, built by HTC to be the first ever phone to run on the exciting new Google Android Operating Platform. Contracts for the G1 Phone will be exclusive to T-Mobile and will be available to the UK market in early November 2008 although will still await an exact UK release date.

One thing’s for sure, G1 Phone or Google Phone, we’re expecting the mobile experience to be taken to new highs when this one flies off the shelves in November.

G1 Phone Testdrive

T-Mobile’s new G1 Phone, the very first phone to operate on the much coveted Android Platform from Google is the talk of town, in fact lets rephrase that, it’s the talk of the globe! We all want one, but when can we get our hands on the G1 phone in the UK?

Everywhere we look there are news article galore about the G1 this and the G1 that, but why is it that everthing we read is always aimed at the US market? Ok so when it comes to release dates, we’re used to playing second fiddle to our friends across the atlantic, but that’s not the problem. It’s not that we need to know we can get a G1 before the US, we simply want to know when we can get one at all.

Well you may have seen already that pre orders for the G1 in the US have been and gone before many new about it, and those lucky enough to have got their order in can expect delivery on October 22. So far the only promises we have had for a UK release date for the G1 Phone is early November 2008, but we’ve heard from T-Mobile that we can expect a pre order window for the G1 phone to open in mid October.

Considering how quickly the US pre order window closed after opening, we’d suggest all of us who want to get our hands on the G1 phone on the day it gets released in the UK, and that is all of us, get our pre orders in the minute we see that window open.

Rest assured, the moment we hear T-Mobile are accepting pre orders for the G1, we will be covering it all over this website, and we’re quietly confident that will be the day that we get an official UK release date for the G1 phone.

According to reports over in the States, T-mobile is looking to order between 1.5-2 million G1 phone in the near future and that’s including a predicted 400,000-500,000 G1’s to be sold in the fourth quarter of this year. Looks like it’s quids-in for the G1 phone’s handset manufacturer, HTC. It’s shipment of G1 phones is estimated to contribute over NT$18 billion to HTC`s sales performance next year.

…and what about predicted sales in the UK? All we know is, Father C better be ready for the UK pre order!

Everyone wants to know, when can we get our hands on the G1 phone in the UK? One thing’s for sure, if any of us are looking to acquire a G1 phone on it’s release date (early November), the US market has shown that we must be at the ready when T-Mobile’s UK G1 pre order window opens in mid October.

There has been a great deal of confusion surrounding the G1 Phone release date and pre-orders for the UK mobile consumer, which we hope to clear up a little today.

T-Mobile had been taking pre orders for the G1 phone in the US, at a price of $179 (£99 at todays exchage rate), taken on a two year contract or $399 (£221) contract free. However, we heard yesterday that T-Mobile had closed the G1’s pre order window in the US due to overwhelming demand.

Our sources confirmed yesterday that T-Mobile plan to open a pre order window for the G1 in the UK around mid October 2008, and you can rest assured the moment that opportunity arises we will be letting you know. We need to move fast if we want to avoid the disappointment of not being able to get one when they go on sale in the UK in early November.
